Rīgas prese un sabiedrība 19. un 20.gs. mijā: Bokseru sacelšanās Ķīnā atspoguļojums dienas laikrakstos 1900.gadā

Abstract

Maģistra darbā analizēts t.s. Bokseru sacelšanās Ķīnā atspoguļojums Rīgas dienas laikrakstos 1900. gadā. Tā mērķis ir konstatēt dienas laikrakstu nozīmi modernas sabiedrības veidošanās procesā, balstoties uz minēto norišu atspoguļojumu. Modernizācijas procesu ietekmē sabiedrībā pieauga nepieciešamība pēc sekulāras informācijas. Pateicoties tehnoloģiskajam progresam, šādu informāciju, tostarp par aktuālajām norisēm pasaulē, nodrošināja dienas laikraksti. Norises Ķīnā, ņemot vērā lielvaru iesaisti, bija viens no visatspoguļotākajiem procesiem Rietumvalstu un Krievijas impērijas presē 1900. gadā. Rīgas dienas prese regulāri nodrošināja ne tikai aktuālāko informāciju par Bokseru sacelšanos, bet publicēja arī vispārīgu informāciju par Ķīnu, apstiprinot tās nozīmi modernas sabiedrības veidošanās procesā.

Master’s thesis is dedicated to analysis of the coverage of the so-called Boxer Rebellion in China in the daily press of Riga in 1900. It aims to examine the importance of the daily press in the making of modern society, based on the coverage of said events. As a result of modernization processes, the need for secular information in society increased. Due to technological progress, such information, including current world events, was provided by daily newspapers. Events in China, given the involvement of the great powers, were one of the most widely covered topics in the press of Western countries and the Russian Empire. Riga daily press regularly provided not only the most current information about the Boxer Rebellion but also published general information on China confirming its importance in the process of forming a modern society.
