Latvijas Evaņģēliski luteriskās baznīcas stāvoklis 20.gadsimta 20.gados: Sv.Jēkaba baznīcas jautājums

Abstract

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir analizēt Evaņģēliski luteriskās baznīcas stāvokli 20. gadsimta 20. gados, izmantojot sabiedrībā un valsts līmenī pastāvošās pretrunas saistībā ar Sv. Jēkaba baznīcas nodošanu Romas Katoļu baznīcai. Latvijas tiekšanās pēc starptautiskas atzīšanas un Latgales katoļu iedzīvotāju integrēšana jaunajā valstī bija priekšnoteikumi konkordāta slēgšanai ar Svēto Krēslu, kas paredzēja kādas Rīgas baznīcas piešķiršanu Romas Katoļu baznīcai. Diskusiju rezultātā valdība nolēma nodot Sv. Jēkaba baznīcu, ko noteica baznīcas īpašumtiesību sarežģītā vēsture. Vadības iecere par Sv. Jēkaba baznīcas nodošanu saskārās ar virkni LELB iebildumu, formulējot jaunas attiecības ar valsti.

The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to analyze the state of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the 1920s, using the societal and governmental contradictions surrounding the transfer of St. Jacob’s Church to the Roman Catholic Church. Latvia's pursuit of international recognition and the integration of the Catholic population of Latgale into the newly established state were prerequisites for the conclusion of a concordat with the Holy See, which stipulated the allocation of a church in Riga to the Roman Catholic Church. As a result of the discussions, the government decided to transfer St. Jacob’s Church, a decision influenced by the church’s complex history of ownership. The government's intention to transfer St. Jacob’s Church encountered numerous objections from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia, which led to the formulation of new relations with the state.
