Htoniskie dzīvnieki latviešu folklorā

Abstract

Šajā darbā tika aplūkota htonisko dzīvnieku daudzveidīgā simbolika latviešu tautas folkloras materiālos. Htoniskie dzīvnieki — krupis, bruņurupucis, varde un ķirzaka — latviešu mitoloģijā ieņem svarīgu vietu saistībā ar priekšstatiem par auglību, atdzimšanu un tajā pašā laikā nāvi un mirušo valstību. Pamatojoties uz šo būtņu īpašībām, pieņemams, ka priekšstati par tām ir saglabājušies no ļoti seniem laikiem, attēlojot matriarhālās līnijas vienlīdzību (vai pārākumu!) patriarhālajai līnijai. Šie dzīvnieki ir ambivalentas būtnes, kas vienlaicīgi ir gan labvēlīgas, gan arī kaitējošas. Htoniskie dzīvnieki saistīti ar Lielo pirmmāti kā tās zoomorfiskie veidoli, arī kā augļa un dzemdes simbols. Šajā aspektā htoniskajiem dzīvniekiem ir līdzīga simboliskā nozīme ne tikai latviešu un baltu, bet arī daudzu citu pasaules tautu mītiskajos priekšstatos. Daži htoniskie dzīvnieki, piemēram, varde, krupis, parādās arī maģisko rituālu tekstos, kur vienlīdzīgi ar čūskas kā pirmsākuma simbolu, raksturīga mikrokosmosa radīšana. Varde un krupis saistībā ar auglību redzami arī kā tieši erotiskie simboli. Htonisko dzīvnieku nozīme tautas uzskatos nav mazinājusies arī mūsdienās.

In this article was looked at diversity of symbolic Latvian htonical animals in Latvian folklore. Htonical animals — a toad, a tortoise, a frog and a lizard in Latvian mythology take a significant point in connection with notices about productiveness, regeneration and the same time about death and the kingdom of deceased. To base an qualities of these living beings it is accetable that notions about them last from very ancient ages, deseribe the equality (or superity) of matrilineage to patrilineage. These animals are ambivalent creatures what at the same time are boot favorable and siccative. The htonical animals are connected with the Great firstmother as her zoomorfological patterns, also as symbols of foetus and uterus. In this aspect the htonical animals have similar symbolic meaning not only in Latvian and the Balts, but also in mythic concepts of many other nations of the world. Some htonical animals as the frog and toad shows also in texts of magic rituals, where alike the snake as the symbol of paternity is characteristic creative of microspace. The frog and the toad in connection with productiveness are visible just as erotic symbols. The meaning of htonical animals is not decreased nowadays too.
