Pētījumā piedalījās 120 jaunieši 18 – 19 gadu vecumā (meitenes no pilnām ģimenēm n= 30; meitenes no nepilnām ģimenēm n=30; zēni no pilnām ģimenēm n=30; zēni no nepilnām ģimenēm n= 30).
The aim of the research was to establish boys’ and girls’ from complete and incomplete families connection between self-esteem and experience of childhood with father.
In this research 120 young people participated from age 18 to 19 (girls from complete families n= 30; girls from incomplete families n=30; boys from complete families n=30; boys from incomplete families n= 30).
The young people filled out the demographic indicator questionnaire (age, sex, family status), Rozenberg’s self-esteem scale (Rosenberg Self- Esteem Scale) (RSE) (Rosenberg, 1965) which in Latvian was adapted by Miltuze, A. (Miltuze, 1996) and Questionnaire about father’s presence (Father Presence Questionnaire) (FPQ) (Krampe & Newton, 2006) which 4 under-scales were adapted in Latvian by Rezgale, I. (Rezgale, 2008) and 6 under-scales were adapted in this research.
Results show that girls from complete families have shared more positive experience of childhood towards their father, than girls from incomplete families. Boys from complete families have higher self-esteem, but less physical contact with their father, than boys from incomplete families. Ties of statistical significance were not discovered between self-esteem and experience of childhood with father to young people from complete families, but self-esteem of girls from incomplete families positively correlate statistical significance with feelings towards father’s and mother’s support in relationship with father. Boys from incomplete families show that deeper feelings towards their father, higher mother’s support towards relationship with father and more positive mothers’ and fathers’ relationships, is conected with higher self-esteem. Positive closer connection between self-esteem and Feelings towards father and Mother’s support in relationship with father underscales indicators is being seen to boys from incomplete families in comparison with the indicators of girls from incomplete families. The age when parents divorce took place is conected to girls’ self-esteem and boys’ experience of boys’ childhood relationship with father, although the frequency of meeting with father is positively connected with experience of girls’ childhood with father and boys’ self-esteem.
