Abstract

Mūsdienu pasaulē ir vērojama tendence, ka izzūd robežas un cilvēki kļūst mobilāki, līdz ar to arvien ciešāka kļūst valstu sadarbība un biežāka dažādu kultūru pārstāvju sastapšanās. Lai izvairītos no nevēlamiem starpkultūru konfliktiem, cilvēkiem jābūt pietiekami kompetentiem. Starpkultūru kompetences attīstība ir nosacījums tam, kā studējošais, kas devies uz ārvalstīm apmaiņas programmas ietvaros vai ar mērķi iegūt augstāko izglītību konkrētā studiju programmā, spēj adaptēties jaunajai videi un īstenot mērķi, kādēļ viņš uz šo valsti ir devies. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt Latvijā studējošo ārvalstu studentu starpkultūru kompetences veidošanos. Kopumā jāsecina, ka ārvalstu studentiem starpkultūru kompetence ir attīstīta. Galvenie faktori, kas to ietekmē: studentu atvērtība, grupas biedru atbalsts, universitātes atbalsts un tās rīkotie pasākumi.

In nowadays there is a tendency for boundaries to vanish and people to become more mobile, consequently the cooperation among countries becomes tighter and people of different cultures tend to meet more often. To avoid undesirable intercultural conflicts people have to be competent. The development of intercultural competence is a precondition for a student arriving to a foreign country within the framework of mobility programme or for the obtaining of higher education to be able to adapt to the new environment and reach educational goals. The aim of work is to find out the development of intercultural competence for foreign students in Latvia. The conclusion: foreign student’s intercultural competence is developed. The main factors affecting it: student’s openness, groupmate’s support, university’s support and organized events.
