Atslēgas vārdi: identitāte, identitātes distress, pašrefleksija, insaits, jauno pieaugušo vecumposms The goal of this study was to examine what kind of relationships between identity distress, self- reflection, insight and age exist, putting emphasis on the role of self - reflection and insight in the context of identity distress. And also whether the psychometric measures of adapted versions of the surveys in Latvian are similar to the original versions in English. The study focused on 102 students aged 19 - 29, 82 of whom were women and 20 - men. The level of identity distress was measured by using Identity Distress Survey (IDS; Berman, Montgomery, & Kurtines, 2004) which was adapted into Latvian within the study. Levels of self - reflection and insight were measured by using Self - reflection and Insight Scale (SRIS; Grant, Franklin & Langford, 2002), which was also adapted into Latvian within the study. The psychometric measures of both of the surveys are realiable and both of them can be used to analyze the data of the study.
The results of the study show that statistically significant positive relations between self - reflection and identity distress and also age and insight exist as well as statistically significant negative relation between insight and identity distress exists. The results of regression analysis showed that insight is greater predictor of identity distress than self -reflection. But statistically significant relationships between identity distress and age; self – reflection and age and also self – reflection and insight were not found.
Key words: identity distress, self-reflection, insight, young adults aged 19-29.
