The purpose of master's degree work was to find out what kind of connections exist between the subjective quality of life and future time perspective for women in Latvia after the age of 65 and what are their hopes and fears about the future, and what predicts their emotional attitude towards the future. The „Quality of Life Index”, „Hopes and Fears Questionnaire” and „Time Attitude Scale” were used in the study for 55 women at the age of 65 to 88.
The research results show that future time perspective is significantly related to the estimation of subjective quality of life. The amount of the mentioned hopes and fears about the future and its content is significantly connected with the quality of life’s estimation. An emotional attitude towards the present time and the psychological quality of life predicts largely the emotional evaluation of future (for women after age 65). The obtained research results can be applied for explaining the old age women’s attitude, their thoughts and feelings about the future and life generally. The results show an important influence of psychological factors on the quality of life and on the positive attitude to life.
