Diplomdarbs tika rakstīts ar mērķi izzināt mutiskās aktivitātes, kuras var palīdzēt vidusskolas skolēniem, kārtojot angļu valodas mutisko eksāmenu. Mācīšana kā joma tika izvēlēta, balstoties uz autores interesi, kā veidot šo procesu, lai tas skolēniem sagādātu mazāk stresu un padarītu to viņiem interesantāku.
Lai sasniegtu Diplomdarba mērķi tika izmantota atsevišķa gadījuma metode. Atsevišķa gadījuma metode tika īstenota autores pedagoģiskās prakses laikā Purvciema vidusskolā.
Lai sasniegtu mērķi, tika izmantotas sekojošas trīs pētījuma datu ieguves metodes: Aptaujas anketa № 1 ar mērķi uzzināt, kā mutiskajam eksāmenam skolēni sagatavoja angļu valodas iepriekšējā skolotāja. Aptaujas anketa № 2 ar mērķi saņemt atsauksmes, atgriezenisko saiti un skolēnu viedokli par aktivitātēm, kuras skolotāja lietoja, lai sagatavotu viņus mutiskajam eksāmenam. Pēdējā datu ieguves metode bija intervija ar angļu valodas skolotājiem ar mērķi uzzināt, ko dara skolotāji, lai sagatavotu vidusskolas skolēnus mutiskajam eksāmenam.
Analizējot iegūto datu rezultātus, Diplomdarba autore saņēma pozitīvus rezultātus. Mutiskās aktivitātes, kuras tika izmantotas angļu valodas stundās ar mērķi sagatavot vidusskolas skolēnus mutiskajam eksāmenam izdevās labi. Skolēniem patika aktivitāšu izpildīšana, kā arī šīs aktivitātes samazināja viņu bailes un satraukumu, kā arī radīja viņos pārliecību par sevi, izpildot runāšanas prasmju attīstīšanas uzdevumus.
Turklāt šīs aktivitātes aktivizēja skolēnus mācību procesā un tajā pašā laikā veidoja to skolēniem saturīgāku un aizraujošāku. Pētījums parādīja, ka uz eksāmena kārtošanu balstītas aktivitātes palīdzēja uzlabot studentu runāšanas prasmes, kā arī attīstīja viņos pārliecību par sevi runāšanas laikā. The Diploma Paper was written with the aim to find out oral activities which can help secondary school students in passing oral English examination. The sphere of teaching was chosen according to the author’s interest of how to make this process less stressful and more interesting for the students.
To achieve the aim of the Diploma Paper the case study as a research method was used. The case study was carried out during the author’s teaching practice for two month in the Purvciema Secondary School.
In order to achieve the aim the following three data collection methods were used: Questionnaire № 1 in order to find out how students were prepared for the oral English exam previously with their teacher. Questionnaire № 2 in order to get feedback and students’ attitude towards the activities the teacher used to prepare them for oral English exam. The last data collection method which was used by the author was an interview with English language teachers to find out what teachers do to prepare secondary school students for the oral examination part.
Analyzing the results of the data the author of the Diploma paper received positive results. Speaking activities which were tried out during the lessons in order to prepare secondary school students for the oral English exam worked well. Students enjoyed doing them as well as they reduced fear and anxiety and brought confidence while speaking. Moreover, these activities made students more active in the learning process and at the same time more meaningful and fun for them. The research has shown that the use of examination based activities helped students to improve their speaking skills as well as built up confidence while speaking.
