Maģistra darba „Mākslas vēstures kursa iespējas personības izaugsmē” mērķis ir izpētīt mākslas vēstures kursa iespējas personības izaugsmē vēsturiskā un mūsdienu skatījumā. Lai sasniegtu darba mērķi, tika studēta un analizēta pedagoģiskā, psiholoģiskā un filozofiskā literatūra par personību, estētisko audzināšanu, mākslas vēstures priekšmeta vēsturisko attīstību un veikts atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums.
Atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums ilga trīs gadus Rīgas 3. vidusskolā. Pirmkārt, tika noskaidrota skolas pieredze un iestrādes mākslas un kultūras vēstures kursa pasniegšanā; otrkārt, tika izstrādāts un divu gadu garumā īstenots viena gada mākslas vēstures kurss 10. klasēs. Treškārt, tika noskaidrots 137 skolēnu viedoklis par izstrādātā mākslas vēstures kursa iespējām viņu personības izaugsmē. Visbeidzot, tika izstrādāti ieteikumi mākslas vēstures kursa pilnveidei.
Literatūras teorētiskā analīze un pētījuma dati ļauj secināt, ka mākslas/ kultūras vēstures kurss skolēnus var audzināt estētiski, ja viņi ir atvērti skaistā uzņemšanai. Lai attīstītu un izkoptu estētisko kultūru, nepieciešams pakāpenisks ceļš jau no mazotnes, jo katrs audzināšanas posms saliedējas ar iepriekšējo un veido vispārīgi un estētiski izglītotas personības.
Mākslas/ kultūras vēsture ir viens no piemērotākajiem mācību priekšmetiem, kurš ar satura palīdzību personībās spēj izraisīt emocionālos pārdzīvojumus, un, izmantojot satura apguvē dažādas skolēn-centrētas metodes, var palīdzēt skolēniem saskatīt mākslas vēstures personīgo nozīmīgumu.

The aim of the Master’s Paper „The Possibilities of the Art History Course in the Development of Personality” is to explore how the art history course can contribute to the development of the personality from the viewpoint of history and nowadays. In order to reach the aim of the Paper, the pedagogical, psychological and philosophical literature on personality, aesthetic education, the historical development of art history as a subject was studied and analysed and a case study was carried out.
The case study lasted for three years at Riga Secondary School No.3. First of all, the experience of the school in teaching art and culture history has been clarified; secondly, one-year art history course has been designed and implemented for two years in Grades 10. Thirdly, the questionnaire was given to 137 students in order to find out their opinion how the implemented art history course has contributed to the development of their personalities. Finally, the recommendations for the improvement of art history course have been worked out.
The analysis of the theoretical literature and the data of the research allow to conclude that the art and culture history course can educate students aesthetically if they are open to accept the beautiful. In order to develop and improve the aesthetic culture, the long and gradual way has to be passed starting from the childhood and followed on every stage of the personality development. Besides, the activities of every next stage should consolidate with the previous ones thus forming overall and aesthetically educated personalities.
Art and culture history is one of the most appropriate subjects; the contents of which is able to bring about the students’ emotional experiences and by using various student-centred methods the acquisition of the contents can help students see the personal meaning and significance in the art history course.
