Atslēgas vārdi: smarža, emocijas, atmiņa This paper advances two hypotheses – pleasant (lemon) fragrance contributes to positive reproduction of film episodes whereas unpleasant (jasmine) fragrance contributes to negative reproduction of film episodes. Within the framework of this research an experiment was conducted – before demonstration of a short-film either the pleasant or the unpleasant fragrance was sprayed in the demonstration room contributing accordingly to positive or negative remembrance of film actualization or reproduction after one week. The experiment involved only female participants (n = 26, average age = 28). The sample (n = 99) of the test research was composed of students of pedagogy and psychology, mainly female participants, age of 26 on average. In the test research a stimulus material for the experiment was selected from three pleasant fragrances, three unpleasant fragrances and three short-films. The selection of stimulus material was based on the results from The Positive and Negative Affect Scale (Watson, Clark, Tellegen, 1988) which leaves the assessment of individual's mood to the individual himself/herself. The results of experiment do not indicate any difference between emotional mood states when recalling the film episodes watched in the room filled with pleasant fragrance or, to the contrary, in the room filled with unpleasant fragrance. The pleasant fragrance (lemon) does not contribute to the reproduction of subjectively positive episodes and also less pleasant fragrance (jasmine) does not contribute to the reproduction of subjectively negative episodes.
