Leksisko iemaņu veidošana vārdu krājuma pilnveidei 4.klases skolēniem angļu valodā

Abstract

Diplomdarba tēma Leksisko iemaņu veidošana vārdu krājuma pilnveidei 4. klases skolēniem angļu valodā tika izvēlēta, ņemot vērā angļu valodas svarīgo lomu ikdienā un jebkurā mūsu tautsaimniecības nozarē. Šī minētā atziņa prasa regulāras un kvalitatīvas šīs svešvalodas apguves nepieciešamību skolā. Pēc valsts standarta noteikumiem angļu valodu kā pirmo svešvalodu sāk mācīties 3. klasē, un viens no priekšnoteikumiem labu rezultātu sasniegšanai ir leksisko iemaņu apguve, taču pirmajos gados skolēniem ir jāapgūst apjomīgs vārdu krājums. Šo procesu traucē vairāki mūsu laiku raksturojoši faktori, kā dzīves nesakārtotība, nervozitāte, trauksmainība, kas atstāj spēcīgu iespaidu uz skolēnu koncentrēšanās un uztveres spējām. Pamatojoties uz šiem faktiem, ir nepieciešams papildināt mācību procesu ar atbalsta vingrinājumiem jaunās leksikas semantizācijai un automotizācijai. Lai risinātu šos jautājumus, tika izvirzīts darba pētījuma mērķis: Izpētīt metodes, kas palīdz veidot 4. klases skolēnu leksiskās iemaņas un pilnveidot vārdu krājumu. Gadījuma pētījuma ietvaros, ko autore veica vienā no lauku vidusskolām Kurzemē, tika iegūti dati, anketējot 4. klases skolēnus, intervējot skolotājus praktiķus, kas māca angļu valodu jaunāko klašu skolēniem. Pētījuma sākumā un nobeigumā tika analizēti skolēnu diagnosticējošo kontroldarbu dati. Pētījuma ietvaros tika apstiprināts, ka, mācoties angļu valodu sākumposmā, skolēniem ir grūtības vārdu krājuma apguvē, tā pielietošanā runā, veidojot teikumus, kā arī ir raksturīgs zināšanu īslaicīgums, papildus grūtības rada izrunas un rakstības atšķirības. Apkopojot un izanalizējot datus, autore konstatēja, ka 4. klases skolēnu zināšanu līmenis ir paaugstinājies par 4%, kā arī tika uzlabots skolēna ar zemākām darba spējām zināšanu vērtējums no nepietiekams līdz pietiekams. Veiktā darba rezultātā tika pierādīts, ka, dažādojot mācību stundās izmantojamos vingrinājumus, ir paaugstinājusies skolēnu motivācija, apgūstot jaunās leksiskās vienības, ir uzlabojies kopējais mikroklimats klasē. Skolēniem tika dota iespēja radoši izpausties, paaugstinot savu pašapziņu, bet, novērtējot iegūtos rezultātus, ir jāsecina, ka kvalitatīvākai rādītāju uzlabošanai ir nepieciešams pētījums vismaz mācību gada garumā. Izveidotie vingrinājumi tiks izmantoti strādājot ar nākošo 4. klasi, tos papildinot ar citiem metodiskajā literatūrā atrastiem, bet vēl nepārbaudītiem uzdevumiem, izveidojot labu starta laukumu skolotājas un audzēkņu turpmākajam kopīgajam darbam angļu valodas kā pirmās svešvalodas apguvei.

The theme of the Diploma paper “Formation of lexical skills for improving the vocabulary in English in Grade 4” was chosen taking into consideration the significant role the English language plays in everyday life and any branch of the national economy. This requires the necessity of regular and qualitative acquisition of English at school. According to the State standard students start learning English as the first foreign language in Grade 3 and one of the prerequisites for achieving good results is the acquisition of lexical skills; in the first years of learning students have to master an enormous number of words. Several factors that characterize our age hinder this process, namely, disorders in life, nervousness, stress that leaves impact on students’ ability to concentrate and the perception skills. Based on this, it is necessary to supplement the teaching/learning process with support exercises for the semantization and automotorization of the new lexis. In order to solve these issues the aim of the Diploma paper was set: To study methods that help developing the lexical skills of Grade 4 students and improving their vocabulary. The case study that the author of the Diploma paper performed in one of the rural secondary schools in Kurzeme provided data that were obtained from questionnaires filled in by Grade 4 students, interviews with the practicing teachers who teach English to primary school students. The data from students’ diagnostic tests were analyzed at the beginning and end of the study. It was proved in the study that the acquisition of vocabulary, the use of words in speech when forming sentences as well as short-term knowledge pose difficulties for students when starting to learn English. Additional difficulties are caused by the difference between pronunciation and spelling. Having summarized and analyzed the data, the author concluded that the level of English knowledge of Grade 4 students has increased by 4 per cent; also the students with lower achievements had increased their level of knowledge from insufficient to sufficient. The study resulted in proving that by diversifying the tasks and exercises used in the lessons students’ motivation to acquire new lexical units had improved; the general atmosphere in the class had improved, too. Students were given a possibility to express themselves creatively, thus increasing their self-esteem. However, it should be concluded after assessing the obtained results that in order to increase the level more qualitatively the study should last at least for the whole academic year. The developed exercises will be used in work with the next Grade 4 students; they will be supplemented with new ones found in methodological literature but not yet tested.
