Ārpusklases lasīšana skolēnu starpkultūru izpratnes palielināšanai angļu valodas stundās 11.klasē

Abstract

Diplomdarba tēma ir „Ārpusklases lasīšana skolēnu starpkultūru izpratnes palielināšanai angļu valodas stundās 11.klasē”. Diplomdarbā tiek aplūkoti jautājumi, kas saistīti ar angļu valodas kā svešvalodas skolēnu starpkultūru izpratni vidusskolā, tās lomu un nozīmi angļu valodas kā svešvalodas mācīšanās kontekstā, kā arī dažādi paņēmieni kas iespējami veicina lielāku skolēnu starpkultūru izpratni izmantojot ārpusklases lasīšanu angļu valodas stundās. Diplomdarba mērķis ir izpētīt kā ārpusklases lasīšana veicina skolēnu starpkultūru izpratnes palielināšanu angļu valodas stundās 11.klasē. Diplomdarba uzdevumi ir veikt teorētiskās literatūras analīzi par pētāmo priekšmetu, izpētīt kāda ir šībrīža situācija saistībā ar skolēnu starpkultūru izpratni, izstrādāt aktivitātes, lai palielinātu skolēnu strapkultūru izpratni un ieviest tās mācību procesā, izvērtēt pielietoto metožu un stratēģiju devumu attiecībā uz skolēnu strapkultūru izpratnes pieaugumu. Lai sasniegtu Diplomdarbā izvirzītos pētījuma mērķus, Jaunogres vidusskolā tika veikts gadījuma pētījums darba autores pedagoģiskās prakses ietvaros, iesaistot vienpadsmit vienpadsmitās klases skolēnus kā pētījuma izlases grupu. Pētījuma resultātu analīze atklāja, ka skolēnu izpratne par citām kultūrām, kā arī viņu izpratne par savu pašu kultūru bija pieaugusi patiecoties saņemtajam mācīšanas ieguldījumam.

The theme of the present Diploma Paper is Extensive Reading to Increase Students' Intercultural Awareness in English Lessons in Form 11. The paper deals with the issues of English as Foreign Language learners’ intercultural awareness in secondary school, its role in EFL settings, as well as the various ways which may lead to greater enhancement of learners’ intercultural understanding through the employment of extensive reading in English lessons. The aim of the Diploma Paper is to explore how extensive reading contributes to the development of intercultural awareness in English lessons in Form 11. The objective of the Paper is to study the theoretical literature on the subject matter, to explore what is the current situation regarding learners’ intercultural awareness, to develop activities to increase learners’ intercultural awareness and incorporate them into the learning process, to evaluate the outcome of the applied strategies and methods regarding learners’ intercultural awareness. In order to accomplish the aims and objectives of the Diploma Paper a case study was carried out at Jaunogre Secondary School involving eleven students of Form 11 as the research sample group within the framework of the teaching practice of the author of the Paper. The analysis of the research results showed that the learners’ intercultural understanding of other cultures, as well as their understanding of their own culture had increased to a certain extent due to the instructional input they received.
