The years of Margaret Thatcher’s rule are well known by its policy both in foreign and domestic affairs. The aim of the domestic policy consisted of reforming financial and economic policy of the state, changing the situation in Welfare state and social guarantees. The Trade Union regular strikes and “Winter of Discontent” were in focus of Thatcher’s government, too. Thatcher’s government paid attention also to several foreign affairs – relationships with the USA, the USSR, European integration processes and Falkland War were the most vital issues.
Describing Thatcher’s social policy, most of authors have a similar opinion – Thatcher was the one, who buried the dream of prosperous Welfare state. Evaluation in historiography about Thatcher’s foreign policy is not unified and has a lot of opinions.
