Apziņa: vai nereducējams, fizikāls fenomens? Džona Serla apziņas koncepcijas analīze un kritika

Abstract

Šis maģistra darbs ir kritisks Džona Serla (John Searle) piedāvātās psihes-ķermeņa problēmas risinājuma izvērtējums. Viņa skaidrojumā apziņa ir vienlaicīgi gan pilnībā mentāls, gan pilnībā fizikāls fenomens, turklāt šim skaidrojumam izdodas veiksmīgi izvairīties no duālisma – mūsdienu psihes filozofu bieda. Darba sākumā tiek aprakstīta Serla pozīcija, kas pēc tam tiek izvērtēta no divu citu pozīciju – Pola Čērčlenda (Paul Churchland) neiron-skaitļojošās un Deivida Čalmersa (David Chalmers) ¬īpašību duālisma – perspektīvām. Darba pēdējo daļu veido Serla pozīcijas centrālo konceptu kritika. Nobeigumā tiek piedāvāts veids, kā šo pozīciju uzlabot. Šajā daļā tiek izmantoti argumenti no Džeigvona Kima (Jaegwon Kim) un Georga Northofa (Georg Northoff) darbiem.

This master’s thesis is a critical examination of a solution to the mind-body problem offered by John Searle. In his account, consciousness is simultaneously both a fully mental and a fully physical phenomenon; yet the explanation also manages to successfully avoid dualism – a scare of the contemporary philosophers of mind. The work begins by explaining John Searle’s position, which is then weighed against two alternative solutions – Paul Churchland’s neurocomputational perspective and David Chalmer’s property dualism. The final part is a critique of the core concepts of Searle’s postion and also offers a way to improve it. The last part relies on the arguments developed by Jaegwon Kim and Georg Northoff.
