The purpose of this Bachelor thesis is to compose Rudix Balanced fund’s optimal portfolio from Western European debt securities and common stocks. The paper discusses several researchers’ major contributions to development of modern portfolio theory, security types and their risk profile, as well as following portfolio theories, models and methods: Markowitz portfolio selection theory, Capital Asset Pricing Model, Single index model, Tobin’s risk-free asset model, Elton – Gruber algorithm and Arbitrage Pricing theory. Applying analyzed theoretical material two portfolios were composed - debt security and equity – which then were merged together to create funds’s portfolio with balanced investment strategy. Fund’s 15-week long operating results - positive return equal to 0.1% - have fully met short-term target established in the fund’s investment policy.
Keywords: optimal portfolio, Markowitz theory, CAPM, Elton-Gruber algorithm.
