The aim of the thesis is to analyse the activity of Islamic banks, investigate their position in the world financial market of today as well as the issues, connected with the prospects of their further development, and on the basis of the performed analysis to develop the recommendations that, in the author’s opinion, would guarantee favourable further development of Islamic banks and strengthening of their influence in the world financial market.
Due to the fact that Islamic banks is a relatively new and rapidly developing phenomenon in the world financial market, and a number of bankers and entrepreneurs all over the world have to reckon it, still the majority scarcely realizes the specificity of Islamic banking business. All the abovementioned makes the theme “Islamic Banks and prospect of its activity” of the thesis chosen by the author up-to date for the application as an introductory material to the specificity of the activity of Islamic banks both currently and in the future perspective.
The framework of the master's paper is based on the author's general conceptions and research logic.
In the first chapter the theoretical basis and principles of Islamic banking are analysed.
The second chapter is devoted to the comparative analysis of the differences in the activity of Islamic banks and conventional banks.
In the third chapter of the thesis the historical perspective of origins and development of the Islamic banks is scrutinized, as well as the activity of Islamic banks in the financial market of the European Union.
The final chapter describes the position of Islamic banks in the world financial market and provides the analysis of the perspectives of the development of Islamic banking model in future.
Present thesis is built upon the comparative analysis of Islamic banks and conventional financial institutes, comprising economic analysis of the activity of Islamic banks on the world financial market.
The principal result in the author’s opinion, attained by analysing all the aspects of the activities of Islamic banking system included in present thesis, is the conclusion that notwithstanding with all the differences between Islamic and conventional banks, they play a general role within the framework of world financial market – a role of financial mediators, implementing redistribution of capital within the world financial market, at the same time being directed at a different customers’ group. Due to this fact the existence and healthy competition of these two models in one dimension of the world financial market appears feasible and favourable both for the world financial market, as well as for all the banking system.
