Atslēgas vārdi: agrīnais stoicisms, Hrīsips, determinisms, cilvēka darbība, autonomija This work is devoted to the problem of compatibility of stoic determinism and human causal autonomy. The topics discussed in this work are stoic conception of fate, or universal causal and teleological determinism, stoic conception of causation and the place of human beings and human action within the stoic cosmos. The main attention is devoted to the question of whether human, or agent autonomy is possible within the deterministic stoic cosmos which is governed by universal necessity.
The stoic attempt to reconcile the idea of universal determinism and the idea of human freedom is compared with several approaches to the problem of reconciling determinisms and freedom of the will offered by the contemporary compatibilists.
