The aim of the bachelor thesis „Competition in Energy Recource Market in Europe” is to analyze the processes and actions taken at EU level in recent years in order to liberalize and remove the significant remaining barriers to effective competition in the energy market.
The nature of the competition problem lies in the coherence between the European Union's plan for a single and liberalized internal energy market and the factors preventing achievement of this goal- various level of economic development in EU countries, unequal competition intensity in different regions and environmental targets’ influence on trade.
For determination of the current European energy market’s competitive situation, author analyzed EU regulatory framework and factors influencing competition.
In order to identify solutions and develop proposals for market improvement opportunities the author has conducted a study on the current competition in energy markets and its shortcomings using expert survey.
