Energy is an essential and one of the most important parts of people life in the 21st century. Fuel produced from renewable and non-renewable energy resources is an absolute necessity today, being an extremely valuable commodity on the market and a firm foundation for household development. Fuel from non-renewable energy sources has been used for many years, while the renewable energy production of biofuels is still not fully developed and thus falls short of a great potential for biofuels industry as a whole. One of the main drawbacks of using fossil energy is the limited available amount of fossil resources on the planet and an environmental pollution. Each country developing the production and the use of renewable energy resources improves the welfare of the population and stimulates economic growth.
Bachelor thesis main objectives are to study different fuel types, to analyse the formation of fuel prices, as well as to explore Latvian fuel consumption now and in the nearest future with the help of forecasting.
Keywords: renewable energy, non-renewable energy, fuel, biofuel, prices, consumption, forecasting methods.
