Every year there are more Latvians that marry in mixed marriages. As the mothers and fathers ethnical identities differ, the kids usually have to struggle with defining their own identity. In search for their identity influence comes not only from their parents but also from school, friends, society and the ethnical group itself.
The goal of this research is to find out what identity kids from ethnically mixed families choose, is it the fathers, mothers ore Latvian identity? To complete the goal, there ware literature analyzed about the ethnical identity, observed the finished researches and completed interviews about kids who live in ethnically mixed families and their ethnical identity. In interviews founds out that most kids in ethnically mixed families identify them selves as Latvians and dominating is the father’s ethnical identity.
