Maģistra darbs sastāv no trīs nodaļām. Master’s thesis is made up from three parts. The first is description of biology of diatoms, factors affecting their distribution, their bioindicator role in rivers and method’s for establishing reference conditions. “Materials and Methods” describes selection of reference condition sites, sampling and identification methods of benthic diatoms as well as the sources and methods applied in the empirical part of the thesis. The third part contains diatoms families and species analysis. Main conclusions are that dominant family in all sites is Naviculacees and dominant species is Achnanthes minutissima which has high sensitivity to pollution and is typical for oligosaprobous – betamesosaprobous waters. The thesis is written on 69 pages and the results of the thesis are shown in 14 tables and 9 graphs, 11 annexes are added, bibliography consists of 68 sources.
