Por el Amor del Arte: Kā teātris ietekmē kopienu. Teātra pārveidotas apkaimes etnogrāfija

Abstract

My thesis is aimed at exploring the impact of arts on communities through an empirical research performed in La Balanza – a neighbourhood in Lima, Peru. The focus of this research is theatre: how a theatre festival in particular can have a positive impact on the neighbourhoods where it is performed and how, in turn, the community redefines the focus of the arts. The object of research is the two-way relationship between arts, on one hand and communities in general and specific elements that define communities – cohesion, memory, etc., on the other. The theoretical framework is rooted in concepts related to community e.g. social cohesion, social capital, social movement and memory as well as to the arts, with an emphasis on socially-oriented forms of theatre. An ethnographic method of research is used. The results illustrate a perceived increase in levels of social cohesion, organization and civic engagement due to the presence (and performance) of a theatre festival – FITECA – in La Balanza neighbourhood in Lima. Furthermore, there are immense expectations on the potential long-term impact that such a festival can have over communities and individuals alike.

Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt mākslas ietekmi uz kopienu, veicot pētījumu La Balanza rajonā Limā (Peru). Pētījuma centrā ir jautājums par teātri: kā teātra festivālam var būt pozitīva ieekme apkaimi, kurā tas tiek spēlēts un otrādi – kā kopiena pārdefinē mākslas fokusu. Pētījuma objekts ir divpusējās attiecības starp mākslu un kopienu, pievēršoties kā vispārīgiem, tā specifiskiem kopienu definējošiem elementiem (kā sociālā kohēzija, sociālā kustība, sociālā atmiņa). Pētījuma teorētiskais ietvars ir balstīts kategorijās, saistītās ar kopienu, kā sociālā kohēzija, sociālais kapitāls, sociālās kustības, atmiņa, māksla, ar akcentu uz teātra sociāli orientētajām formām. Pētījumā lietota etnogrāfiskā metode. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda pieaugošu sociālo kohēziju, pieaugošu kopienas organizēšanos un pilsonisko iesaisti, pateicoties teātra festivāla FITECA klātbūtnei La Balanza rajonā Limā. Turklāt pastāv gaidas par potenciālu festivāla ilgtermiņa ietekmi kā kopienas, tā individuālā līmenī.
