Ziemeļamerikas latviešu Dziesmu un deju svētku reprezentācija laikrakstā "Laiks" (1949–1959)

Abstract

Bakalaura darba "Ziemeļamerikas latviešu Dziesmu un deju svētku reprezentācija laikrakstā "Laiks" (1949-1959)" mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā Dziesmu un deju svētku reprezentācija "Laiks" publikācijas veicināja nacionālo identitāti. Teorētiskajā daļā izklāstītas reprezentācijas (Hall, Moscovici, Webb, Lacey) un nacionālās identitātes (Smith, Billig, Guibernau, Elgenius, Anderson) teorētiskās iestrādes. Kā arī vēsturiskā konteksta izpratnei, apskatīta trimdas attīstība – Dziesmu svētki un prese, laikraksta "Laiks" raksturojums. Kontentanalīzes un diskursa vēsturiskās analīzes rezultāti liecina, ka Dziesmu un deju svētki reprezentēti kā nacionālās identitātes vērtība, liekot uzsvaru uz tautas garīgajām vērtībām, simboliem, vēsturi un tradīcijām. The purpose of the thesis "The Representation of Latvian Song and Dance Festival in North America in the Newspaper "Laiks" (1949-1959)" is to find out how representation of Song and Dance Festival in newspaper "Laiks" promoted national identity. The theoretical part outlines the fundaments of representation (Hall, Moscovici, Webb, Lacey) as well as those of national identity (Smith, Billig, Guibernau, Elgenius, Anderson). Also it gives an insight of the historical context about exile – development of Song and Dance Festival, Latvian expatriate press – "Laiks" in particular. Results of quantitative content analysis and discourse historical analysis show that the Song and Dance Festival is value of the Latvian national identity, emphasized to nation values, symbols, history and traditions.
