COPD is one of the most prevalent diseases in the world. Aptoximately 3 million people die of it yearly. On the other hand non-small cell lung cancer is also one of the leading causes of death among both men and women.
The aim of this study is to explore COPD influence on lung cancer pathogenesis.
40 patients were included in this study. All of these patients had non-small cell lung cancer. To assess pulmonary function of the patients’ spirometry was used.
Our results show that there are more adenocarcinoma patients among women (67%), and more squamous cell carcinoma among men (71%). FEV1/FVC relation were lower in lung cancer group than in general population.
Although, results were not statistically significant, it still be concluded that there FEV1/FEV index tend to be lower in COPD/lung cancer comorbid patients.
