dc.description.abstract | Maģistra darbā tiek aplūkota Krievijas iesaiste Sīrijas krīzes atrisināšanā, kas valstī notiek kopš 2011. gada sākuma, kad to sasniedza „Arābu pavasara” protestu vilnis. Darba mērķis ir aplūkot Sīrijas lomu Krievijas ārpolitikā, to izmantojot kā platformu lielvaras statusa apliecināšanai starptautiskajā sistēmā. Darba uzdevumi ir aplūkot Krievijas ārpolitikas vadlīnijas attiecībā uz lielvaras statusa apliecināšanu, kā arī izpētīt Krievijas intereses Sīrijas krīzes kontekstā. Par darba teorētisko bāzi tiek izmantota neoreālisma un ofensīvā reālisma teorijas. Pētījums tiek veikts, balstoties uz kvalitatīvo analīzes metodi, aplūkojot grāmatas, zinātniskos žurnālus, oficiālos dokumentus un interneta resursus. Darba rezultāti apstiprina, ka Krievijas iesaiste Sīrijas krīzes atrisināšanā ir balstīta uz lielvaras statusa apliecināšanu.

dc.description.abstract | Research paper examines the role of Russia in settlement of the crisis in Syria, which begun when the “Arab Spring” protest wave finally reached the country in the beginning of the 2011. The main aim of this research is to look at the role of Syria in the foreign policy of Russia, while Syria is being used as a platform for Russia to attest its grate power status in the international system. The tasks of this paper are: to look at the foreign policy guidelines of Russia which indicates the will to attest its great power status; and examine the interests of Russia in the context of Syria. Theoretical background for this paper based on neorealism and offensive realism. Research is based on the qualitative research. Results of this paper approves that the involvement of Russia in the settlement of the crisis in Syria is based on considerations to attest its great power status.
