The aim of the Bachelor thesis „LTV broadcast "De facto": needs and expectations of an audience” was to establish needs and motivation to watch the broadcast of representatives of LTV broadcast “De facto” audience and to compare them with the formulated objectives and target audiences of the previous and the new broadcast creators. The hypothesis was, that the broadcast “De facto” loses audience with the need of political analysis, if it obliges to another part of the audience with the need of entertainment at the Sunday night. The results of research approve the hypothesis, because the audience with a need of political analysis thinks that entertaining elements are instruments for tendentious news.
The work is structured in four parts. In a theoretical part there is mainly used media uses and gratification theory, as well as considered the audience as the participant of political communication. In part two there is described the broadcast “De facto”. In part three there is described methodology- ‘in-depth’ interviewing, questionnaire method and rating analysis. In an analytical part there is compared the results of rating analysis with answers of respondents and the notion about the audience of the broadcast creators. In appendix there is date of rating, questionnaire and a list of needs and expectations of respondents.
Key words: audience, needs and expectations, activity, political communication, broadcast „De facto”, Latvian Television.
