| dc.description.abstract | Maģistra darba ”Piepilsētas teritorijas sociāli ģeogrāfiskās iezīmes: Babītes pagasta piemērs” ir veltīts aktuālai tēmai Latvijā. Tā saistās ar vienu no mūsdienu urbanizācijas procesu izpausmes veidiem suburbanizāciju, kas raksturīga pilsētu apkārtējām teritorijām, un novērojama Rīgas aglomerācijā, tai skaitā Babītes pagastā.
Darba teorētiskajā daļā tika apskatīta urbanizācijas procesa vēsturiskā attīstība, piepilsētu teritorijas pasaulē un postsociālistiskās valstīs, noskaidroti iepriekšējie pētījumi. Tāpat tika analizēti notiekošie procesi piepilsētu teritorijās: iedzīvotāju pieaugošā mobilitāte, noslāņošanās, vides un ekonomisko problēmu saasināšanās, vietējo pašvaldību atkarība no metropoles, nepieciešamība plānot ilgtspējīgu attīstību.
Darba pētnieciskajā daļā, izmantojot pieejamos statistikas datus no 1999. – 2009. gadam, tika analizēta Rīgas rajona pašvaldību iedzīvotāju demogrāfiskā situācija, migrācijas tendences, ekonomiskie rādītāji un nekustamais īpašuma tirgus Pierīgā. Tāpat tika raksturotas Babītes pagasta apdzīvotās vietas, iedzīvotāji un saimnieciskā darbība, nekustamā īpašuma tirgus attīstība. Lai noskaidrotu Babītes pagasta iedzīvotāju dzīves un darbības telpu, tika veikta 166 pastāvīgo iedzīvotāju aptauja, dati apstrādāti ar SPPS programmu.
Pētījuma rezultātā secināts, ka piepilsētas Rīgas rajonā, tāpat arī Babītes pagastā, attīstās strauji, to nosaka metropoles tuvums, pieaugošā iedzīvotāju mobilitāte un saimniecības decentralizācija. Babītes pagastā parādās jaunas sociālekonomiskas iezīmes: palielinās darbaspējīgo iedzīvotāju īpatsvars, iedzīvotāju ienākumi, apbūvē parādās jauni ciemati un rindas mājas, loģistikas centri. Pašvaldība rūpējas par ilgtspējīgu telpisko attīstību, nodrošina sakoptu, drošu un veselīgu vidi, jo kopumā aptaujātie cilvēki ir apmierināti ar dzīvesvietas apkārtējo un vides kvalitāti, kaimiņiem, taču nepieciešams uzlabot transporta, brīvā laika pavadīšanas, tirdzniecības pakalpojumus.
Maģistra darba apjoms ir 93 lappuses, 24 pielikumi. Darbs ir papildināts ar 71 attēliem, 1tabulu.

| dc.description.abstract | The Master Theses “Social-geographical characteristics of suburban area: the case of Babite region” by I. Gavare is dedicated to actual theme in Latvia. It is connected with one of kinds of expression of contemporary urbanisation processes - suburbanisation, which is characteristic to surrounding territories of big cities, and it is also seen in Riga agglomeration. The location of Babites civil parish in Pieriga determines its being under the influence of metropolis, the number of population increases rapidly due to migration, real estate market is developing, increases economical activity, changes local social and economical environment.
The author set a goal in The Master Theses- to carry out social-geographical study of Babites civil parish.
To realize the goal, there are set following tasks:
ņTo view researches about suburbs and their development, the features of suburbanization,
ņTo characterize interaction between city and country in Pieriga,
ņTo characterize Babites civil parish and its social-geographical characteristics,
ņTo evaluate the space of life and action of population of Babites civil parish.
The Master Theses “Social-geographical characteristics of suburban area: the case of Babite region” covers the period from 1999 to 2009, consists of 3 chapters.
Chapter I is theoretical review, where is done literature analysis about historical development of the process of urbanization, the territories of suburbs in the world and in post-socialistic countries, clarified preliminary researches. There were also analyzed actual processes in the territories of suburbs: increasing mobility of population, gentrification, and intensification of the problems of environment and economy, local government’s dependence on metropolis, necessity to plan sustainable development.
In chapter II there are viewed used methods in The Master Theses- literature studies, survey, processing programme of statistic data SPSS, graphical method, making cartographic material with Arc Map, visual method, interviews and observing. There are used materials- cartographic materials, questionnaire, plannings, statistics of Central Statistical Bureau, The Treasury, The Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia, Office of Citizenship And Migration Affairs about Rigas region, Babites civil parish, as well non-publicised materials of Babite local government in the work.
Chapter III is the research part of the work. There were analysed demographical changes of the population of local governments of Riga region, tendencies of migration, economic indices, and the development of real estate market in Pieriga. Further was characterized location, settlements, the development of building, population and economic activity, the changes of real estate market of Babites civil parish. To make out the space of life and activity of population of Babites civil parish, there was done the inquiry of 166 resident population. The obtained date were processed with SPSS programme and showed in diagrams.
As a result of the research was concluded that suburbs in Riga region, just as same in Babites civil parish, develop rapidly. It is determined by nearness of metropolis, increasing mobility of population and economic decentralization. There are appearing new social-economical characteristics: increasing proportion of able-bodied population, incomes of population, there are appearing new villages and row houses in building, forming new settlements, sale and logistic centres in Babites civil parish. Local government takes care about sustainable spacial development, provides spruce, safe and healthy environment, helps to coordinate interests of businessmen and local population, because in general people are satisfied with the quality of environment of place of residence, neighbours, but it is necessary to improve transport and trade services, the possibilities of spending free time.
