The BA Paper “Machiavellian Characters of W.Shakespeare’s Plays” deals with the problem of evil in the tragedies of W.Shakespeare and the characters of Machivellian type, i.e. the villain characters possessing with the leadership qualities. The research is based on the Niccolo Machiavelli treatise “The Prince” and the other book “Shakespeare and the Allegory of Evil” by Bernard Spivack.
The first parts of the paper deals with the definition of the term Machiavellianism
and its connection with W.Shakespeare’s plays. The basic part of the work introduces the analysis of Machiavellian characters from the tragedies of W.Shakespeare. In the final chapters the author presents the comparative analysis of feminine and masculine Machiavellian characters.
The research has shown that people possessing the Machiavellian character has always lived in the society, not depending on time. The Machiavellian character could have any person, not depending on gender, status in society, prosperity…
If earlier nobody could use the appropriate term to such a character, then with the appearance of the book “The prince” by N.Machiavelli it was called Machiavellian.
