Konkrētās filmas tika izvēlētas dēļ to salīdzinoši komplicētā sižeta – korporatīvā pasaule, patērnieciskums, kultūra, kurā galvenais filmas varonis piedzīvo identitātes dubultošanos, kurai paralēli norisinās „patiesā es” meklējumi. Theme of the academic essay is „Usage of product and brand integration in creation of characters. Case study.” For the case study two movies were chosen: „Fight Club” by David Fincher and „American Psycho” by Marry Harron. The aim of the essay is to analyze the usage of products, brands and services in the creation of main characters in movies mentioned above.
Essay consists of theoretical and empirical parts. Within the theoretical part following themes are surveyed: product placement in the movies, brand integration in the content, creation of character and culture of consumerism. One of the theoretical parts of the essay is dedicated to psychological insight into the nature of an individual, leading the group process and double identities of the person.
Empirical part of the essay takes a closer look, using products, brands and services, to describe their identity on creation of the characters in „Fight Club” by David Fincher and „American Psycho” by Marry Harron. The movies were chosen because of their relatively complex plot: corporate world, consumerism cult, main character in both movies has double identity meanwhile searching for his true inner self. Content analysis and semiotic analysis were used as the methods in empirical part of the essay.
