2. Strādnieku svētku galvenā ideoloģija – vienota tauta, kas seko autoritārā režīma izveidotājam, Vadonim un strādā jaunas valsts labā.
3. Svētki kā rituāls bez tā galvenā aktora (valsts prezidenta) zaudē tā efektivitāti. In the Masters’ Qualification Work the analyses and research of one of the considerable and grandiose people get together events – Worker’s Day - during the authoritarian regime of the president Karlis Ulmanis is performed.
The chosen field of research is the most influential and issued press of the authoritarian regime – newspapers: „Jaunākās Ziņas”, „Brīvā Zeme” and „Rīts”. The research objects are: the texts of press publications, headlines, photographs, which are related to the preparation for and process of the nationwide celebration.
The research methods used in the Master’s qualification work are content analyses and critical discourse analyses. In the research work taking into account the data and categories gained from the content analyses as well as the information received from critical discourse analyses, the work is analyzed in compliance with the fifteen main characteristics of „Ritual theories” by modern ritual communication researcher Eric Rothenbuhler . Each of the characteristic is compared with all publications related to the Workers’ Day celebration in fife year’s duration. The mentionings of the name of the president K. Ulmanis in these publications are researched and categorized separately. The publications are analyzed in the following discourse: Workers’ Day – a ritual of ideology of Karlis Ulmanis.
Final conclusions prove the following hypothesis:
1. The Workers’ Day celebration is the ritual of ideology of Karlis Ulmanis where the power and nobleness of the States first person is cultivated by equaling Ulmanis to the best friend of the worker and the ideal Leader of a people.
2. The main ideology of the Workers’ Day celebration – a united nation , which follows the constitutor of the authoritarian regime, the Leader and works for the sake of the new State.
3. The celebration as a ritual without its main actor (state president) looses its efficiency.
