As these systems consist of adaptive agents, special attention is given to modelling adaptive behaviour. The main machine learning approaches used to build adaptive agents, the most important conceptual models of agents, and general analytic models of multi-agent systems are reviewed. A novel conceptual model of a goal-driven bounded rational adaptive agent, as well as its software implementation, is presented. The main difference of this model from models available in the literature is the integration of the following blocks: (1) bounded rational, as opposed to perfectly rational, behaviour based on the satisficing principle; (2) autonomous planning of own actions for reaching the given goal; (3) adaption of behaviour to environmental changes. To boost agent’s planning speed, a fuzzy combinatorial law mechanism is proposed. A planning problem where strong dependency relationships exist between plans is considered. It is shown that it could be solved by modifying the algorithms for the winner determination problem in mixed multi-unit combinatorial auctions, which are also described.
The work “Methods of Mathematical Modelling of Complex Adaptive Systems” consists of 61 pages, 5 tables, and 9 figures. 41 bibliography sources are used.
