Maģistra darba tēma ir „Baltijas valstu grāmatvedības sistēmas kopīgās un atšķirīgās iezīmes”. Problēmas būtība ir noskaidrot kopīgo un atšķirīgo Baltijas valstu grāmatvedības kārtošanā un salīdzināt to ar SGS nostādnēm. Maģistra darba struktūru veido četras daļas.
Pirmā daļa raksturo grāmatvedības sistēmu vispārējās prasības Baltijas valstīs, saskaņā ar valstīs noteiktajām likumdošanas prasībām. Otrā un trešā daļa tiek veltīta bilances aktīva un pasīva posteņu novērtēšanas metožu detalizētai analīzei un salīdzināšanai. Ceturtajā daļā salīdzināta Baltijas valstu ieņēmumu un izdevumu atzīšana peļņas vai zaudējumu aprēķinā.
Darba izstrādes gaitā secināts, ka grāmatvedības uzskaitē Baltijas valstīs ir daudz kopīgu iezīmju, taču konstatētas arī atšķirības dažu bilances posteņu novērtēšanā un atzīšanā.
Izstrādāti priekšlikumi iespējamai Latvijas grāmatvedības sistēmas optimizācijai.

The theme of the Master Thesis is „The Common and different features of the Baltic states accounting system”. The essence of the problem is to find out the common and different features when keeping records of the accounting in the Baltic States and to compare them with IAS approach. The Master Thesis has 4 parts.
The first part of the Master Thesis characterizes general requirements of accounting in the Baltic States according to the legislation set by these states. The second and the third part is devoted to detailed analysis and comparison of the balance asset and liability item valuation methods. The fourth part has been devoted to acknowledgment of the Baltic States income and expenses by presenting of profit or loss statement.
During the writing process of the Master Thesis it has been concluded that general requirements of accounting system in the Baltic States have many similar features, however assessment and acknowledgement of some of the balance items is different. Several proposals have been developed for possible optimization of the accounting system in Latvia.
