The most major financial models that govern the financial world have been created
almost half a century ago, as the importance of the modern financial system increases, they fail to fulfill their purpose. The similar picture can be observed in the area of portfolio construction and performance measurement. The use of the mean-variance framework and the measures, which are based on it to construct and compare the performance of portfolios, has been widely criticized. The aim of this paper is to analyze both conventional and altenative performance measures of management portfolio evaluation. The results of the research have clearly demonstrated that conventional ways of performance measurement such as Sharpe ratio is inaccurate. The introduction of new performance measurement ratios could facilitate both the portfolio construction and the portfolio performance evaluation processes.
