Mutvārdiskuma elementi Dž.R.R. Tolkīna Silmarilionā

Abstract

Maģistra darba “Mutvārdiskuma elementi Dž.R.R.Tolkīna Silmarilionā” mērķis ir izpētīt mutvārdiskuma pazīmes maz pētītā Tolkīna darbā. Maģistra darba teorētiskajā daļā apskatītas mutvārdu diskursam raksturīgās fonētiskās, semantiskās un sintaktiskās īpatnības. Aplūkota arī dāņu pētnieka A.Olrika teorija par episkajiem likumiem, kas raksturo mutvārdu vēstījumus. Darba praktiskā daļa veltīta Tolkīna darba analīzei, par izejas punktu izmantojot augstākminēto teorētisko bāzi. Darba rezultāti liek secināt, ka Silmarilionā Tolkīns plaši izmanto mutvārdiskuma elementus, lai imitētu agrīnos (pirmrakstības laikmeta) autorus. Mutvārdiskums īpaši atklājas sintakses līmenī, taču tā klātbūtne redzama arī fonētikas un semantikas līmenī. Izmantotais Olrika analīzes modelis rāda, ka Silmarilionā dažādā mērā izpaužas arī gandrīz visi episkie likumi.

MA paper “The Elements of Orality in The Silmarillion by J.R.R.Tolkien” aims at researching the features of orality in a novel seldom discussed by scholars. The theoretical part of the paper investigates phonetic, semantic and syntactic features as well as the psychodynamics of oral composition. In addition, Axel Olrik’s theory of the epic laws for oral narratives is reviewed. The practical part of the paper examines the presence (or absence) of the surface structure typical for oral discourse in the novel. It also deals with the psychodynamics of The Silmarillion and studies its compliance with the epic laws. The results of the research reveal extensive use of oral elements in The Silmarillion at various linguistic and narrative levels of the work. In various parts of the novel, the epic laws are differently applied.
