Iegūtie dati liecina, ka no visiem pārdotajiem antidepresantiem, 56% bija SSAI grupas antidepresanti.
Depression is a serious and widespread disease that affects feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical function. This seems to be a great problem in Latvia because there is a tendency to use antidepressants more and more every year.
The aim of this work is to explore antidepressants (SSRIs, tricyclic antidepressants (TCA), noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressants (NASSAD), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), serotonin stabilizing the tricyclic antidepressants structure (SSA)) and trends of this group of medicine use of district in Karsava region from March 1st, 2011 till March 31st, 2013.
The data shows that of the total sales of antidepressants the 56% is the SSRI group of antidepressants. The most common of the active substance prescribed are paroxetine, amitriptyline then escitalopram, venlafaxine.
There is a trend that the range of antidepressant user ages is relatively wide-ranged (from 31 to 65 years of age and over). In addition, men are using these preparations 2 times less if compare with women. Antidepressants are most prescribed by general practitioners (59%).
