The polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorder in women, and which is related to the relative or absolute androgen excess production in ovaries. The incidence of PCOS is 5 – 10% in women population. The congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is an autosomal recessive disorder in which there is enzyme that is necessary for the synthesis of cortisol in the adrenal cortex genetically conditioned as the deficient and cosequently leads to the androgen the absolute or relative overproduction in the adrenal glands and, after that, in the ovaries. There are no studies on the hyperandrogenism in Latvia. The aim of the research is to explore characteristics of the girls’ population with the hyperandrogenism in Latvia, investigating teenage girls’ profile, assessing of the clinical signs and laboratory findings.
