Gestational diabetes mellitus is encountered among 1,5-6% of the population, about 10% of gestational diabetes mellitus cases remain undiscovered. The present numbers, rather their consequences, endanger the rising generation, that is, the likelihood of congenital anomalies in newborn babies is up by approximately 30% which on the scale of population produces a 12-times higher risk. The topicality of the present research is related to the fact that in Latvia there has been no extensive research conducted with regard to gestational diabetes mellitus’ risk factors; therefore, I am aiming at conducting the latter in my research.
The goal of the work: To establish the risk factors’ prevalence among patients with GDM, to compare the obtained results with the control group (pregnant women without established GDM).
Materials and methods: The retrospective, descriptive research analyzes the data included in case records. The patient group comprises 64 patients with GDM.
