Migrantu stāsti un stāsti migrantiem: naratīvs kā līdzeklis Lielbritānijā dzīvojošo latviešu identitātes atjaunošanai

Abstract

Pētījums par Anglijā dzīvojošo Latvijas migrantu stāstu nozīmi viņu identitātes veidošanā un uzturēšanā ir balstīts uz literatūras analīzi, migrantu stāstu novērojumiem un autora autobiogrāfisko emigrācijas pieredzes stāstu. Analizējot un savstarpēji salīdzinot iegūtos datus, pētījumā secināts, ka pēc pārcelšanās uz Angliju Latvijas emigranti aktīvu iesaistās gan sociālo, gan privāto stāstu veidošanā. Tie tiek izmantoti arī identitātes žirēšanā – šī aspekta būtiskumu palielina nereti drīz pēc emigrācijas piedzīvotais identitātes šoks, tai nesakrītot ar pirms tam iedomāto. Līdz ar to secināts, ka stāstus kā identitātes uzturēšanas un pārradīšanas līdzekli lielākoties izmanto dzīvi Anglijā nesen uzsākušie migranti, cenšoties tajā atrast piemēroto vietu jaunajam migranta statusam. Tomēr jaunās identitātes veseluma noturēšanai ir viena no galvenajām arī vēlākos migrantu stāstu nozīmēm.

This study of the place of stories in the identity building and maintaining of the Latvian migrants living in England is based on the academic research, the observation of the migrants’ stories and the autobiographical story of the author’s emmigration experience. After analyzing and comparing the gathered data, the author has concluded that after moving to England Latvian migrants are active in telling both private and social stories. One of their main uses is in the negotiating of the identity – the importance of this factor is raised by the identity shock experienced soon after emmigration, when the reality clashes with previously constructed imagined future. The author has thus concluded that stories as a tool for maintaining and re-building of identity is mainly used by the recent migrants, who are trying to find a place in their identities of their new status as a migrant. The maintenance of the new identity, however, is also one of the main purposes of the stories told by experienced migrants.
