This master paper deals with carbon content in different types by se of peatlands - the natural mire, cutaway peatland, afforested cutaway peatland. The theoretical part consists of evaluation of the previously implemented studies, reflecting the content of carbon in peatlands of the temperate zone. The work is based on fieldwork and laboratory findings on carbon content in peat. The obtained data are calculated in Microsoft Excel tables.New data on mount of carbon in the vicinity of Cenas moor are obtained within the scope of the study. Average carbon concentration in peat-core obtained in natural peatlands is 541 g C kg-1 and it is higher than in the cutaway peat extraction area and afforested peatland for peat-core, where the average content of carbon was 437 and 222 g C kg-1, respectively.
Key words:
Mire, peat, carbon, cutaway peatland, afforestation of peatlands.
