Pētījums sastāv no 3 nodaļām.

Translation is a process that involves two languages and cultures. Translator has his own linguistic, cultural and personal experience as well. These circumstances raise doubts whether it is possible to offer an unchanged source text information to the target text reader. To understand the reasons that interfere with this process and to search for possibilities to overcome the obstacles, the purpose of this research is to analyze, compare and describe two translations of the tale of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry “The Little Prince”.
The research consists of three chapters. The first chapter includes theoretical material. In the second one, the translation of Ieva Lase is analyzed, while in the third chapter the translation of Catherine Woods is studied.
Having summarized theoretical material and analyzed both translations, it can be concluded that a translation can be considered as an independent enunciation and that an absolute equivalence between source text and target text is impossible. Emotional equivalence of both texts is hard to attain because of linguistic peculiarities and choices made by translator.
