Abstract

Diplomdarbā aplūkota tulka kā starpkultūru vidutāja loma un pētīti veidi, kā tulkam iegūt un uzlabot kultūras kompetenci attiecībā uz to valodu kultūrām, ar kurām tulks strādā. Diplomdarba mērķis ir analizēt, cik lielā mērā tulkam nepieciešams uzņemties starpkultūru vidutāja lomu, kā tulkam iegūt kultūras kompetenci un kādām kultūras niansēm īpaši pievērst uzmanību. Lai sasniegtu mērķi, tika aplūkoti ekspertu viedokļi šajā jautājumā, analizētas tulku mācību programmas Eiropas Savienības valstu universitātēs, apkopoti ieteikumi, kā uzlabot kultūras kompetenci, kā arī sniegti starpkultūru komunikācijas kļūdu piemēri un aprakstīti iespējamie izaicinājumi tulkam pildot starpkultūru vidutāja lomu.

The diploma paper deals with the role of interpreter as a cultural mediator and provides an insight in ways, how interpreters can acquire and improve their intercultural skills with regard to the cultures, represented by their working languages. The aim of the diploma paper is to analyze to what extent should an interpreter take on the tasks of an intercultural mediator, as well as how can interpreters improve their cultural competence and what cultural characteristics to pay particular attention to when interpreting. To achieve the set goal, experts’ views regarding the subject matter were examined; a number of interpreter study programs in universities in European Union countries were analysed; suggestions on how to improve cultural competence and examples of intercultural communication mistakes were given, as well as a description of potential challenges in situations, when an interpreter should act as a cultural mediator.
