Atslēgas vārdi: ACTA, konceptuālā metafora, iztēles shēma, TVERTNES shēma, AVOTA-CEĻA-MĒRĶA shēma The introduction of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) has been covered by various types of media and has produced numerous fears among the parties affected. This paper analyses conceptual metaphors and the importance of two image schemas – the CONTAINER and the SOURCE-PATH-GOAL schemas – occurring within a corpus of Forbes articles and a selection of visual images. The analysis is performed based on Lakoff and Johnson’s conceptual metaphor theory, as well as on their investigation of image schemas. Additional framework is provided by Kimmel’s research on metaphors of the EU constitutional debate. The current study demonstrates that the abovementioned image schemas are defining within the image of ACTA produced by the media, and that a conceptual metaphor network surrounding the agreement can be distinguished.
