The use of specialised lexis in context is investigated in the BA thesis. The used lexis or vocabulary differs depending on the field. Every field has its own specialised vocabulary. The use of specialised vocabulary was studied by Nation (2001). The vocabulary related to economics is the specialised vocabulary; it is used in media, e.g. magazines to describe the changes in economics. The economic crisis or recession is described using words or lexis that characterise it. It differs from lexis which is used in other fields, because words are used to describe different concepts which characterize economic crisis. Therefore, detailed investigation of lexis related to economic recession is done by the author of the research paper.
The goal of the BA thesis is to study the use of lexis related to economic recession in context. The applied research method was quantitative corpus-based lexical semantic analysis of economic recession related words via concordancing.
