| dc.description.abstract | Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā iedzīvotāji vērtē velobraukšanas apstākļus un tās drošību Rīgā, kā arī sniegt ieteikumus pašvaldībai un pašiem velosipēdistiem, kā ciešāk integrēt „velodzīvesveidu” Latvijas galvaspilsētas sociālajā vidē.
Pētījuma ietvaros analizētas pilsētas ilgtspējīgas attīstības teorijas, noskaidrots, vai velotransporta lietošana sasaucas ar jaunā urbānisma konceptu, raksturota velotransporta attīstība Rīgā. Darbā pētīts jautājums, kā iedzīvotāji vērtē velotransporta attīstību Rīgā. Pētījumā piedalījās 170 Rīgas iedzīvotāji no 16 gadu vecuma.
Secinājums - velobraukšana pilsētā kļūst aizvien populārāka. Drošība ir galvenais iemesla, kas attur iedzīvotājus pilsētā izmantot velosipēdu kā pārvietošanās līdzekli.

| dc.description.abstract | The aim of the work is to enquire how citizens evaluate cycling conditions and security in Riga, as well as propose suggestions to municipality and bicycle riders for integrating cycling life-style social environment of the capital city of Latvia.
Within the framework of the research theories of city’s sustainable development are analysed. It is ascertained does usage of bicycles relates with the concept of new urbanisms. The research characterises development of cycling traffic in Riga. The question - how citizens evaluate cycling tarffic’s development in Riga is investigated in the research. 170 Riga citizens starting from the age 16 participated in the research
The conclusion is that cycling in the city becomes more popular. The main reason why people do not use bicycles is the factor of security on the streets.
