The main problem in post-crisis Latvia is still the burden of employment taxes. They directly affect the level of well-being, having a larger impact on people with low income in particular. The government is continuously planning various reforms to make the burden of employment taxes even among different groups of people while preserving the state budget income. The results of scenarios that were reviewed in this paper prove the following: in order to reduce the inequality, the burden of employment taxes affecting the people with low income should be reduced which could be achieved by raising the non-taxable minimum, however, the taxes for people with high income and the indirect taxes could be increased to compensate the expected decrease of the budget income.
