Abstract

Šī diplomdarba galvenais izpētes objekts ir ar kultūru saistītu jēdzienu atveide Elizabetes Gilbertas romāna “Ēd, lūdzies, mīli” tulkojumā. Ieguvis pasaules mēroga popularitāti, romāns, kas atspoguļo četras dažādas kultūras, ir lieliski piemērots iepriekš minētās izpētes un analīzes veikšanai. Galvenais darba mērķis ir analizēt ar kultūru saistītu jēdzienu atveidi latviešu valodā un izvērtēt, vai tulkotājas Inas Strautnieces izvēlētie tulkojumi pietiekami labi palīdz lasītājam izprast tam svešas kultūras elementus. Diplomdarbā izmantotā metode ir salīdzinošā analīze. Galvenais secinājums, ko šī diplomdarba autore ir guvusi: jo dziļāk teksts ir iesakņots kādā noteiktā kultūrā, jo rūpīgāk tulkotājam būtu jāpasver tā atveide citā valodā. The main focus of this diploma paper is the rendering of culture-bound concepts in the translation of the novel “Eat, pray, love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Being a worldwide popular novel and representing four different cultures, it makes a good research material for the above mentioned research and analysis. The main goal of this diploma paper is to examine translations of culture-related concepts and to assess whether the translation options chosen by the translator Ina Strautniece are appropriate to help the reader to understand elements of a different culture. The research method employed in this diploma paper is the contrastive analysis. The main conclusion drawn by the author of this diploma paper is: the deeply embedded in a particular culture a text is, the more considerations regarding its rendering into another language are required from the translator.
