The theme of the research is concerned with intertextuality in the novels Ender’s Game and Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card. In a science fiction story it is important to create a sense of familiarity that would help a reader immerse into the story, and such immersion could be created by certain intertextual means. The goal of the research is to find and compare intertextual means used in both novels to depict the same story-world. The method of the research is qualitative comparative analysis within Genette’s structuralism approach. The comparative analysis has proved that Ender’s Shadow is more immersive than Ender’s Game, because it is intertextual per se.
Key words: intertextuality, science fiction, Ender’s Game, Ender’s Shadow, post-structuralism, structuralism, narrative immersion.
