Amerikas baltiešu diasporas loma Baltijas valstu ceļā uz NATO

Abstract

Autore darbā analizē Amerikas baltiešu diasporas lomu Baltijas valstu ceļā uz NATO. Darba mērķis ir apzināt Amerikas baltiešu diasporas, tās organizāciju un diasporas pārstāvju lomu Baltijas valstu uzņemšanā NATO. Darba izstrāde balstīta uz hipotēzi - Amerikas baltiešu diaspora pēc Baltijas valstu neatkarības atgūšanas ir sekmīgi izmantojusi dažādus līdzekļus un ietekmes kanālus, kas ir veicinājuši Baltijas valstu uzņemšanu NATO. Lai pārbaudītu hipotēzi, autore analizē Amerikas baltiešu diasporas un tās pārstāvju darbību vairākos aspektos – diasporas pārstāvji kā diplomātiskā dienesta darbinieki, kā augstu amatu ieņēmēji, kā starpnieki un padomnieki Baltijas valstīs, diaspora kā Baltijas valstu interešu lobijs ASV un diasporas sadarbība ar citām diasporām un starptautiskajām organizācijām. Balstoties uz darba gaitā iegūto informāciju un situācijas analīzi, darbā izvirzītā hipotēze tiek pierādīta.

The author analyses the role of the Baltic-American Diaspora in the path of the Baltic States to NATO. The work is based on the following hypothesis - after the Baltic States regained their independence the Baltic-American Diaspora has successfully used various means and channels of influence that have facilitated the admission of the Baltic States into NATO. To verify the hypothesis, the author sequentially examines the American Baltic role in the path of the Baltic States to NATO through a number of operational aspects of the Diaspora – the representatives of Diasporas as employees of diplomatic service, as high post holders, as intermediaries and advisors in the Baltic States, Diaspora as Baltic States’ interest lobby in the U.S. and Diasporas cooperation with other diasporas and international organizations. Based on information obtained in this work and the analysis of situation, the hypothesis is proven.
