Research focusses on the discourse of the civil society within Latvian polititians communication in the Latvian national daily press (July 2008 to January 2009). Time frame captured in this reserach was socially and politically active, as during this time two referenta where taking palce, one deciding on nations rights to plea on redandancy of the Parliament and one regards to States pensions, as well as on 13th of January 2009, there where extensive protests agains the government and Parliament in the Old town of Riga. These events where good catalists for polititians to speak and to think about the engagement of the society in the policy making process and to discourse about the issues, related to the civil society.
Research is based on N. Faircloughs proposed three dimensional dicourse concept model, technik analayzing texts, their discoursive practice and wider social context. This model allows to identify social contexts influence on thexts vice versa texts influence on wider social context. In order to carry out Critical Discourse analysis (CDA) Fairclough provides twelve criteria, according to which researcher can analyze texts. Theorist provides criteraia to analyze such important aspects of the disocurse as representation of the social event, including actors of the event, genre, discourses, semantic and gramatic relations etc.. Main objec of the CDA is text - interviews, articles, printed opinions, what are viewed in the above mentioned model e.g. discoursive practise, what is developing on text preparations, distributions and aspects of useage of text and discoursive practice is influencing wider social context and how these three levels are interacting.
