The purpose of Bachelor’s work is to determine the seasonal and long-term changes of the Slocene river runoff regime, water quality and the factors affecting it.
In city Tukums and its surrounding area a new building is being built ever closer to the river, so it is important to examine the long-term changes in river runoff. The paper analyses hydrological regime of the Slocene river basin and its changes : high and low water discharge years, summer and winter minimum flows , which generally coincide with the trends observed in the rivers of Western hydrologic district. The Slocene is the largest river that flows into Kemeri National Park, so it is necessary to investigate the chemical composition of the river water, because the river can bring a significant amount of pollution in the protected area. It was concluded that, overall, the concentrations of chemical elements in the Slocene exceed the average levels (especially NH4+, NO2-, Ptot) and anthropogenic pollution affects both national parkand priority cyprinid waters.
Bachelor’s work contains 53 pages and it consists of 6 chapters and 5 appendixes. It also contains 18 figures and 5 tables.
Key words: Slocene river basin, runoff, long-term changes, water quality, nutrients.
